During Black History Month, the National Council of Teachers of English encourages organizations to participate in its annual National African American Read-in. Since the event was founded in 1990, more than six million people have participated globally. Join us from 11:45 a.m.—12:45 p.m. in the Borra Learning Center Student Commons for this shared experience.

69·çÁ÷ students will celebrate the African American experience by:

  • Reading aloud excerpts from literary works and speeches
  • Introducing short film clips
  • Leading a brief discussion following each reading or film clip

Courses with participating students are:

  • COM 111 Public Speaking
  • ENG 215 Introduction to Poetry
  • HST 132 U.S. History
  • SOC 171 Introduction to Sociology

All students, staff and faculty are encouraged to participate in the discussions.

This event is sponsored by 69·çÁ÷'s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee and The National Council of Teachers of English.
